Lipofilling lipostructure

Lipofilling lipostructure face– Explanations : Doctor POIGNONEC plastic surgeon in Paris

Useful information to provide answers on lipofilling (fat transfer). Lipofilling uses your own fat in soft tissue augmentation, body contouring, facial rejuvenation, while adding volume, reducing scarring, and improving the quality and elasticity of the underlying skin. This procedure is also used for facial reconstruction. This technique makes it possible to replenish areas where fat is lacking (either naturally or due to aging, or even following an operation or previous trauma). A true autograft of fat cells is performed by reinjection of the fat taken from the patient himself.
This technique can be associated at the same time with a lift, une rhinoplasty, une liposuction, etc.

A light aesthetic operation, without surgery

The result is natural without resorting to surgery, this aesthetic medicine is a good compromise.

Before the procedure…

  • First consultation is done in the doctor’s office in Paris, it allows the surgeon to study the patient’s motivations to learn about his expectations as well as the aesthetic and psychological effect of the problem.
  • During the consultation, the surgeon determines the areas to be treated.
  • For a rejuvenated face, bring pictures of yourself younger.
  • You will need to have a preoperative check-up and see the anesthesiologist.
  • Second consultation provides a personalized response to any patient’s questions.
  • A new clinical examination makes it possible to validate the therapeutic proposal initially envisaged and to carry out a complete photographic assessment. These photos are essential because they highlight a multitude of small details and small asymmetries to take into account during the intervention.
  • Usually, lipofilling or lipostructure is performed under thorough local anesthesia, but depending on the case a simple local anesthesia or a general anesthesia may be required.
  • Given the harmful impact of smoking on healing, it is recommended that you stop smoking at least one month before the procedure. Avoid vaporization if the liquids of your electronic cigarette contain nicotine which is vasoconstrictor and even in the absence of tar.
  • You should not take any medicines containing aspirin in the 10 days before D-Day.

Most often, this surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, in other words, entry and exit are the same day. But sometimes it may be advisable to stay in the hospital overnight after the procedure.

During the operation…

The doctor chooses an area where there is a fat reserve and makes a microincision in a natural fold using a very thin suction cannula. After centrifuging what has been removed, he reinjects the fatty tissue using micro-cannulas inserted into 1 millimetre incisions. The fat cells collected carry pre-cells that regenerate the skin. This makes it possible to restore volume to certain areas of the face, or other part of the body, and to regenerate it in depth.

What are the benefits of lipofilling?

This technique is generally not painful, without risk of rejection or side effects, since it is a matter of receiving one’s own fat. However, the operation generates bruises and oedemas, but little pain: a result cannot be guaranteed without a certain blueing of the treated areas. The tissues swell during the 48 hours following the operation; it will take about fifteen days for these oedemas to completely disappear. This must be taken into account for your professional or social obligations.

  • You should not expose to sunlight or UV rays. treated areas for at least 4 weeks.
  • A high sun protection cream will be applied at each outing, even in the middle of winter.

What are the possible complications?

A liposuction is a real surgical operation, which implies the risks related to any medical act, however minimal it may be.

As with any surgical procedure, there is a statistically very low risk of complications.

  • Complications of anaesthesia: It is necessary to distinguish the complications related to the anaesthesia from those related to the surgical gesture.
  • Significant pain.
  • An edema appears within the first two days but resolves in 7 to 15 days.
  • Ecchymosis for 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Infection : Objectively prevented by the prescription of antibiotic treatment before and after surgery.
  • Hyper-correction : Related to the reinjection of an excessive amount of fat and results in an excess correction responsible for an excess volume that can be unsightly.
  • Such hyper-correction quickly becomes permanent and its treatment is readily delicate since it cannot generally be achieved by a simple liposuction: in fact, most often, only a reoperation with a real surgical removal of excess fat will ensure the correction of such hyper-correction.
  • In total, one should not overestimate the risks, but simply become aware that a surgical operation, even apparently simple, always involves a small share of risks.
