umbilical invaginated nipples

What causes the invaginated nipples & inverted?

The umbilicus nipple is a problem faced by many women but they do not (or do not dare) talk. The umbilicus nipple is a nipple buried, back, invisible. Retraction of the nipple is due to the brevity of the channels through which flow the mammary secretions during breastfeeding. Because of their shorter, they attract the nipple inward. Cancer risk is not increased by this intervention. Attention: this operation does not guarantee to “all” women a successful breastfeeding, even if this is still possible.

What are the disadvantages of umbilical nipples?

If having umbilical nipples does not interfere with the physiological functions, they may cause discomfort during sexual intercourse, or even complexes, or sometimes make breastfeeding impossible.

What tests can be requested?

During the consultation with your surgeon, it will recommend that you see the anaesthetist at the latest 48 hours before the procedure. A preoperative assessment to be carried out. A mammogram and/or ultrasound will be requested if the last review of control is not quite new.

  • Any medication containing aspirin should be taken within 10 days prior to the procedure.
  • The smoking cessation is recommended – otherwise, lead to a delay or absence of scarring.

Health insurance can support the intervention, and for whom?

The nipple disinvagination is aimed at all women, and young girls who have completed their growth, who are experiencing this problem. In some cases, health insurance may cover part or all of the intervention.

The operation is done under local anesthesia in an outpatient stay.

The surgeon makes an incision of 2 or 3 mm then cut the abnormally short ducts which hinder the externalization of the nipple. This one is definitely externalise. In order to ensure a stable result, the doctor prevents any future connection between the channels by interposing two small shreds from the areola. The scar between the areola and the nipple will be almost invisible. The intervention lasts about 30 minutes. Modeling a band-aid is put in place.
